CBT,DAS,spill,lessons.. a learners blog(ish) I PASSED !!!!!

Postby Shellshine on Sat Feb 23, 2008 6:17 pm

Just have to tell you all that today I did my CBT and passed!

Am so chuffed as it was a MAJOR thing for me to get back in the driving seat on a bike for the first time proper since my smash 26 years ago when I tackled a cement lorry, lost, and forfeited a couple of toes and my ability to walk for 2 years... etc ...etc.... so.... BIG decision to see if I could get back my 2 wheeling independence...

Almost gave up part way through the morning  as was such a bag of nerves and wanted to cry  , but I stopped and had a word with meself and got on with it! :x

Once we got out on the road it was so so SO much fun... :D :D I loved every single second of it.

Instructors were incredibly encouraging ... so... now booking my theory test and the instructor told me that as soon as I've got that then it's full steam ahead for a handful of lessons then test!

The instructor told his colleague that when I was riding I was like someone called Marie/Maria? Costellino/Costello? or something similar (to be honest I was that hyped about it all I didn't hear what he said) ... no idea who she is/was... might have to do some googling... whatever, he was very positive and I feel so very happy.

Anyway... I didn't tell many people I was doing my CBT as I was really worried I would bottle out and that my fear would overcome me but as it turns out, it all kinda came flooding back and I loved it SOOOOOO much.

Hopefully their confidence isn't misplaced, and, they invited me to have a go on their Kawasaki 500 after the course finished and THAT was far easier to handle than the 125 I took out on the roads! So... watch out world...  it looks like I'm a coming back on the roads on my own 2 wheels!!

Yeeeharrr!!!!! :D :D

Well done Jennie.

It's obviously been quite an experience for you and a personal mountain to climb, so congratulations on overcoming your nerves and fears as well.

Take it easy and at your own pace and it will all come.

Regards

Chimpy

thanks guys... am still grinning like a Cheshire cat about it! :D

Next step... swot up on entire Highway code (blimey it's been 20+ years since I even looked at that!) and especially learn all the stuff that is bike specific... theory test is booked and paid for and taking place very soon so some burning of the midnight oil will be in order I think!

Cheers Chimpy... very astute on the mountaineering comment... and.. despite all my excitement I will take it at my own pace... normally full tilt with me... BUT... (keeping to the mountain analogy) the only Maria I could possibly (and those who know me will say this is a highly suspect comment!!!) be even remotely likened to is a singing numpty in a dress made of curtains!!! Well... there IS that song.... climb every mountain ......

Ah the euphoria of life! It's good stuff!! :D

hee hee yep indeedy! Cheers Dibble... t'was only a closely guarded thing beforehand

I was up at the Three Shires meeting last night 'spreading the word' (aka - celebrating with a piece of pork pie and cheese and onion sandwich! boy do these northerners know how to celebrate!!) :D :D :D

It was great to discover that one of their ladies (Lynn) is taking her CBT soon.... I wonder how many other HOC females are taking up the gauntlet...and discovering the mega grin factor! (I know at Northants we now have at least 3 ladies with full bike licenses.... hopefully by the summer that will be 4  )
