I certainly did enjoy it Barry! It was a stonking day - got there and set up at by 7.15am, superb spot - could see all the way along from 2nd bend, down craners and around the hairpin and up under the Cinzano bridge and beyond! Could also see both big screens! It was superb! Got very very red (wind and sun) but what a day!
The young lad (Scott Redding) who won the 125 race! WOW!!! Breathtaking stuff... .. big lump in throat when he was on the podium and yeah, I stood and sang the national anthem.. dead proud... felt a mixture of elation and concern when the race leader lost it right in front of us which enabled Scott to shift up to the winning spot... I guess that's the nature of the game though...
As for the lush JT... too mush hype, too much pressure I think. The falls in practice were, perhaps, an indicator of how much he wanted it and how the hype had got to him. (Or is he going to be the Tim Henman of MotoGP? Who can say... it is only his first year at this level... perhaps things will be better away from home...)
I was absolutely gutted when he came off on that first bend.. couldn't see what happened as Stoner and co were blatting past our bit and we all stood there waiting.. and waiting.. and then he came past... felt very sorry for him really - he cut quite a pathetic figure in his St Georges leathers and lid trailing behind everyone and my heart went out to him as I realised Stoner was gaining on him by about 2 seconds per lap... the final surge of pain came when the leaders all lapped him... still, he kept going despite it all.. I bet there were more than a few tears of disappointment in himself... (we're so often our own biggest & harshest critics aren't we?)
Donington was heaving with leathers and banners and the atmosphere was electric.. loads of support for Rossi as well as JT... shame Stoner got some abuse and called a w***er (as he told everyone live afterwards on air)... but it can't be coz he isn't a Brit... the support was there for the others,..

There's no denying his ability... cracking rider.
I shall never forget Sunday and the whole feel and sights and sounds of it all. The changeable weather (howling winds, pelting rain, glorious sunshine). The great ride up there and the hairy at times (due to mega gusts of wind) back. The sounds of each race - the smell of the two stroke.. the deep throaty utterances and the very clear difference of the Ducatis. It was sooo exciting! Keith & I stayed to the very end... the last races were superb. You should have seen them! Youngsters aged 12 -18... talk about fearless and skillful!! Amazing stuff.
The only negatives for me were, of course, the utterly adorable 'come to Jennie and let her kiss it better for you sweetie'

James Toseland coming a cropper...the ridiculous moronic tw*ts who invaded the track when the race was still running and then proceeded to leap in front of the riders and back slap 'em etc... utter madness.. and the fact that it cost £2 for the titchiest bottle of water! (major rip off)...
But what a belting day it was!
Traffic home a bit of a nightmare but I had the warmth of a burnt face and a grin to match the Cheshire cat's all the way... roll on next year - we're going to camp for the entire thing. I know it was a pricey ticket but boy it was worth every last penny of it!
Plus I got to meet some really smashing folks from Wales and Herts and we shared our food with them all and had a giggle during the 'between races' moments. Fantastic!
I shall never forget it!
(bet you wished you'd never asked now eh..... ?
