Opening Threads, quick reply!

Any questions for the HOC management committee.

Opening Threads, quick reply!

Postby jimmyb on Mon Jun 23, 2008 3:54 pm

Admins, currently when I open a thread, it jumps straight to the last post, and shows the quick reply box. I'm sure when I first started on the forum, it would open at the first post, with the option for a quick reply. Can this be changed by the user, and if so how?
Regards

I just opened this thread and it stopped at the top - since I hadn't seen it before. So, it works for me.

Quick reply is just that - a quick reply. If you want smilies, click on "post reply".

If you all really don't like it, I can remove it - but I can't change how it works.

It jumps to the bottom when I open a thread too.

Didn't use to. Is there something I can click to stop it as it's very annoying.

Dave, if you use the "View latest Posts" feature the new postings all come up with a little pink(?) square with an arrow on the left. That's the "Go to latest post" button. It's a feature of phpBB that I really like (the SMF s/w that we use on sohc4 doesn't have that functionality... [imagine "sad" smiley here - I'm using "Quick Reply" - another feature that I quite like!]

Like this?

Looks more like a page rather than a "little pink square..."

I do that but when I go to the actual post and open it, it opens at the top of the page then after a few seconds jumps to the bottom of the page and the Quick Reply box.

Further to my problem of opening a thread, and it jumping to the last post:
I changed my theme from Arrow to Silver, and threads now open correctly, so I can only assume that the problem is embedded in the theme!

It still happens on all my computers so I'll try changing my colour scheme and see if that works for me.

Just changed my colour scheme to Sub Silver and the problem has disappeared.

Thanks Jimmy. : )
