I hope this went well for those that got there. Had all good intentions until I saw the forecast and did not fancy 160+ miles in the rain. It has not stopped raining here today and looks set for the afternoon as well.

I must admit that when I got up this morning at 07.30 the weather didn't look too good. But after I had breakfast the skies seemed to be clearing so I loaded up and headed to the Ace Cafe. It was a little damp on the way but not really raining and by the time I got there it was quite warm if not sunny. There were quite a few Monkey Bikes there, around 20 I would guess with our customary reserved parking, and Erica was there representing the HOC.

We had a bit of an eventful ride around the smoke with one guy losing his back wheel and another snapping his chain and finally the group was split into two (or maybe more, who knows). Four of us made it back to the Ace and there were still no signs of survivors at 17.00 when I left for home.

Smoke it certainley was today and my eyes are still suffering from the ingress of dust. My air filter also looks particularly filthy and will need a good cleaning.

When we stopped at Battersea Park the sun was really warm and we all had to get our kit off for a while, all that was missing was the ice cream van!

It was an enjoyable day and the weather held off for us which was a bonus as the forecast wasn't good. I also met up with some Monkey mates who I hadn't seen for a while.

Had lunch went on the stand and met a young lady that rode a VFR so we are a talking about going to a meeting to see what the low down is.

But it the weather was rubbish...

 Love the description! Thank you - I now have to work out which couple you were from the ones I met - we should all wear our Forum names and then it would be so much easier. Anyhow good to meet you and I know you will get an excellent welcome at the Branch when you go!

Chimpy - ok ok which one where you! Wish you had come over and said hi - I was wondering if you were there but couldn't go round chatting up all the monkey bike riders to find out!

It was a wet morning but as you say, dried up in the afternoon. We had a great time with the boys (Tony and Dave) from Honda and several of our HOC members turned up, despite the weather!

Well here is to the next one and better weather!

Well at least you know what a Monkey Bike is now Erica!

You always seemed so busy when I was there and I wouldn't have wanted to interupt you in full flow.

Strange thing is I have spoken to you at a few Honda events now!

Yes, Chimpy I now have seen Monkey bikes and would have loved to ride one but as one of the guys told me they cost £2k I don't think 'better half' will allow me to have one as well as the VFR!

Pleased those that got there had a good day. The rain just kept on going here until at least 6pm. Even when it eased there were still smaller showers.

Graham tells us that there was a good result on the charity raffle and new members signed up and also won said raffle. What a good day they had.

Well done everyone keep enjoying.

Sorry to say....I'm another one that didn't make it! Was riding up with 3 others and all dropped out...didn't fancy the ride in the (forcast) rain on my own!

Definately next time......

We came on about 2.30pm. I ride an SP1 and Mrs Runty rides a Kawasaki. I think we are in between Northants/MK branch and yours too.
