I know many of you will possibly be away that weekend but for those who are not - and are not too far away from Bedfordshire, there is a mass charity bike run and family fun day:) to support the Keech Cottage Hospice in Luton, organised by the Oakley Motorcycle club near Bedford. Everyone who can get along would be very welcome to attend, we're hoping for well in excess of 200 bikes to make it a major event. (Currently discussing with bike clubs and pubs all over the region!).
Keech Cottage Children’s Hospice supports over 150 families from across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes who are facing the loss of their child. All the children cared for by Keech Cottage have been diagnosed with a life-limiting condition and most are expected to die in childhood.
The aim at Keech Cottage is to enable families to make the most of the precious time they have left with their child. Staff offer help, support and friendship to the whole family, throughout the child’s illness and after their death, for as long as it is needed.
Plan is to meet up in the market square in Bedford from 10am, leave in convoy at 11:30 to travel to the Hospice and hand over cheques etc, then returning to the clubhouse of the OMC (Oakley - about 3 miles North of Bedford) for a family fun day with BBQ, Bouncy castle, giant slide, chocolate fountain stalls etc.
Cost per bike - a very modest £5 - all of which goes straight to the Hospice.
Not only an opportunity to support a great cause, but to enjoy a hopefully sunny day out with other bikers (all very friendly).
More information if needed - from Phil Randall on 07740 829001 (Fazer Thou owner - can't be helped!).
Many Thanks;)
