Is this an initiation test for newbies ?

Any questions for the HOC management committee.

Is this an initiation test for newbies ?

Postby Whitewolf on Sun Jun 07, 2009 5:36 am

I can't stay logged in

Every time I change page to navigate around the site, I get automatically logged out. I have tried to post a response to Witchmaster's CB750 restoration photographs, and even though I'm correctly logged in with "log me in automatically on each visit" ticked, as soon as I submit my reply I get the "you must be logged in to reply" page, and lose my text.

I log back in, rewrite the text (copying it this time) to paste it if it gets lost and as soon as I submit it, I get returned to "you must be logged in" message again. I tried a few times last night and again this morning with no luck, or does that section require a higher access authority ?

I'm on another owners forum (for 4 wheels  ) which is virtually identical to the layout of this one (just not as cool) and have had no problems at all in the 12 months that I've been a member. As soon as I connect to that site, I'm automatically logged in under my usernom and remain connected for the duration of my visit.

Have any of you any experience of this happening before and any ideas on how to solve it,

Thanks,

Whitewolf.

Hi,

I have heard of users having this problem before, not just on this site but on others too. I am not quite sure what to suggest.

Have you tried using a different browser? I always use Mozilla Firefox and I have no problems at all.
Try deleting your internet tempory files and cookies maybe you have something there that is causing a conflict.

This happens to me all the time here when I use my 'preferred' browser, BT Yahoo Broadband. It only happens when I'm on the HOC forum, and not with any other forums that I use. When I use others, they log me in automatically every time, and never log me out whilst navigating around. Ticked all the correct boxes, set all the settings, all to no avail. :o?
I've tried all sorts of other things, but being a computer numpty, I don't know what to do sort it either. Another user on here has the same service provider as me, and he has exactly the same problem, so uses Internet Explorer only for this forum, which is what I do now.
So, you're not alone!

Well Red V Four has just confirmed my thoughts .... that maybe your browser in conjuction with your provider is having an argument with the forum.

So I would suggest downloading Mozilla Firefox as it works perfectly for me and I must admit I prefer to use Firefox anyway.

Ahh - Mr Whitewolf - this may explain why you couldn't register either.

I have no idea why this forum is particular in that way. We don't own it, we just use it.....

I was with BT Braoadband, and did not have problems, it may be a setting within your browser that gives you this problem!

I haven't anymore but it did happen to me. Trouble is can't remember what fixed it, don't think I actually did anything to fix if as complete computer numpty. Think it just stopped after a while!
