Insurance Companies!

Postby jimmyb on Tue Jun 09, 2009 1:06 pm

My insurance is due, however I wish to add Business Use class 1, to the policy this will allow me to travel to other parts of my company, and also to any training. I enquired a couple of months ago with my current insurer Footman-James and was told it would cost an additional £270 on top of my £160.
Last week I emailed my insurer informing them that as my policy expires within a month, and requesting please supply a quote to include Business Use.
At the weekend I used Go-Compare and got some very reasonable quotes from £69, however because I have additional items (including for instance panniers) these are classed as modifications, and policies can not be purchased over the Internet.
Honda Insurance phoned last night (as a result of the search) and I now have an equivalent policy to my existing with Business Use, with the same company (Red Star Equity) for £98.
My current insurer has not yet replies to my email!
Regards

Doesn't suprise me Jimmy though you will probably find that Honda Insurance are extremely competitive for the first year and then go up considerably. For years I have alternated every year between them and others as they cannot compete on renewals. There's no loyalty in insurance!

Well I have a Double Classic Bike insurance for my CX500 and 750KZ insured through 1st Quote with Norwich Union and they have just dropped my insurance from 120 pounds a year to 98 pounds  (and that is fully comp and includes a clause stating I can ride any bike not belonging to myself on third party cover).
I expected them to put it up.

Last year i had 2 bikes insured with Bennetts, my 89' VFR 750 & a 94' Fireblade. After i had sold the Blade the renewal for the VFR was higher than i had been paying for both !!!! What was that all about then, they assured me the quote was correct. ( I never renewed with them ).

Insurance companies are statisticians, so if your area has been bad for car crashes, car thefts etc in the last 12 months then the price of insuring drivers from that area/age group will rise.

Thanks.. :x
