Looking for a Change!

Postby doright on Tue Jun 02, 2009 2:20 pm

Hi all, not posted for a while now.

Have been thinking of changing my present bike but unsure what to go for. I have a CBF600SA 57 plate and am considering a supersports bike but not sure if i'll get on with the different riding position. Went to local Honda dealer and loved the feel/weight of the CBR 1000 fireblade, was offered a road test but at this junction i'm only in the considering phase! I could not believe how light the Fireblade is compared to mine.

Any suggestions? thoughts on the competely different ridng position?

Been told the Suzuki GSXR750 is the one to get ?

All feedback welcome

Thanks and enjoy the fantastic weather!

The riding position is completely different. I think if you want the best of both worlds, look at the VFR800. It will do everything well.

I have owned 3 Fireblades and find the riding position okay personally (I am 5'10" which seems about the right height for the 2006 Blade). They have a sporty riding position but not too extreme like a Ducati 998/999 etc.

The VFR suggestion is a good one although it won't feel as light as the Blade. The riding position is still sportier than the CBF.

I have ridden a few miles on the 2007 CBR600RR and would look at one of those too they are great fun to ride although they have to be revved harder than the Blade.

The GSXR750 K6 is an awesome bike, as i rideout with a mate on one. The only area my '07 Blade has an advantage is roll-on, which you'd expect with a 1000. Apart from that, on the road, the difference is nothing at all. If you wanted to do a bit of mile munching or lots of motorway miles then the Blade would be easier to ride.Tho the riding position isn't suited to everyone. Your best bet would be to take a test ride thru a few villages, as under 50mph you may find your wrists aching slightly.
Give it a go as you wont know till you try one.
It depends on what you want it for really, as Alan and John said, the VFR is a very good allrounder.

Hi, thanks for the feedback, My local Honda dealer had a ride and drive weekend, which I was invited to. I wanted to ride the Fireblade, the CBR600 and the VFR. Sorry to say they never had a VFR on the ride and drive and were reluctant to let me out on the fireblade due to only having my full bike license less than 1 year. So I got to go out on the CBR600 and initially I felt the pressure on my wrists as completely different set up to the CBF after about 10 mins of the 50 minute ride out I started to feel better about the position and how responsive it was compared to my own 600.

Disappionted about the VFR so will not make up my mind about changing till i've had a blast on the VFR as thinking this might be the better all round bike, for fun, holidays and the odd commute.

Again thanks for the feedback its always good to get others opinions on these issues.
