Any hints on looking after your bikes

Tyre advice plz

Postby Euroned on Fri Mar 14, 2008 5:57 am

My '01 Transalp is needing new rubber soon, currently having Avon Distanzia on board. In the few years i have used these, they appear to work pretty well in the wet and are ok in dry. I use my bike every day for commuting and rideouts and only road use, no offroad!

Best recommended tyres plz?

Ty

When I had a Honda Dominator I had a set of Pirelli Scorpion tyres which were pretty good and I replaced them with Trailwings which were also good and wore fairly well.

Lol heard you the first time :)

I rode in the wet/snow/rain with my Trailwings but the Dominator is a smaller lighter bike than the Varadero so could well behave differently.

Hi, I have a VFR750F 1996 and just got Michelin Pilot Road 2s fitted front and back. I have done 1000 miles now and they are fantastic. I also commute (110miles round trip to work) and have notice slightly improved fuel burn but more noticeably the handling in the wet is outstanding. If you go to the Michelin website they have tread patterns and also charts on their tyres giving 1-5 ratings on performances. On this forum there is a thread about these tyres and everyone seems to get around 10,000 miles out of them. Heres hoping. Hope this helps. ;o)

Hi ya

I have a 03 varadero 1000, i have Michelin Anakee's on, i have had no probs with them, good enought to get my knee down in the dry.
they hold well in the wet as well, i have done plenty of motorway and country lane miles in both dry and hissing down weather and the tyres havent let go or felt slipy, I have had quite good wear out of them as well
