Centre stand on a CB1300 - be careful which one you get.

There are two types of centre stand - one for the bikes before 2007(?) and one for those afterwards. The later bikes have a different shaped set of downpipes and catalyst. It is the latter that sticks in a bit and will hit a protrusion on the older centre stand.

How do I know? I'm sure you can guess. The solution is to cut off the extra bits from the centre stand and then it works a treat. If you look at the image here http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/grap ... _large.jpg you can just see the bit to cut off at the back. It only holds the rubber bung and has no load bearing influence.

Once you have fitted it, the bike is so well balanced, it just rocks onto the stand - lovely.

Fitting is easy as long as you remove the silencer, loosen the headers and drop the centre bit of the pipes down a bit. The hardest part is pulling the springs onto the pegs.

As you recently got it new, why didn't you get the dealer to fit it before you took delivery?

Why didn't it come with one as standard?

Answers:

1. Because I didn't realise how much I missed one until I had a bike without it
1a. Because buying it from David Silver Spares is cheaper than Honda

2. Because Honda like to extract as much cash as possible from unwilling punters

Any more ?

Reading your "fitting procedure" and modifications, I think I would have paid the extra and had it fitted!
