I'm sorry Steve mate I know we're all Honda Owners, well most are ;o) but I fail to see why or how you can compare the MV with a VFR Anniversary when to be honest the MV is a far better looking machine with a bit of pedigree 8) style and flare 8)
Where as, yes the pre Vtec VFR is a good bike, the Anniversary version is horrible it looks like someone had a front end smash on a red one, could'nt get a fairing of the same colour so stuck a silver one on, or maybe Honda had a load of silver fairings left over in the factory, but not enough red ones, so thought 'I know we'll produce an Anniversary version call it a limited edition and charge a bit more' :o0

I just think the MV is a beautiful looking bike. I've seen the particular bike in question a few times as the rider must live fairly local to me. He was even pulled up at the same roadside check as me once and received a ticket for his rather loud but gorgeous sounding exhausts.

Sorry Viffer - rarely disagree with you but the VFR is still an excellent bike and the anniversary model is a fantastic colour scheme............but then it is good we all have differing views! :o)) (I also think the MV Augusta is beautiful bike!)

Exactly what I said on another thread about the Anniversary model. It was supposed to look like a 1960's Honda racer, which did look good in those colours. The MV looks classy, the Anni VFR looks cheap!

You probably didn't realise it but I can understand why your sub-conscious was being drawn towards the MV, they've copied the red & silver colour scheme from the VFR800 Anniversay model ;o)

Hey guys take it easy  , this post was only intended as a bit of fun about some red and silver paint.

There's no real comparison between the two bikes, they're of a different type, with different budgets, from different decades.

I guess your personal choice of ride will generally depend on what you use the bike for and/or what you can afford, otherwise we would all be riding MVs or something better!

Keep smiling

I couldn't agree more.

I love the looks of the MV but I actually like the paint scheme on the Anniversary VFR as well. I probably wouldn't buy either bike though, other priorities.

Popped out for a ride this morning and ended up at Box Hill as usual, well Ryka's Cafe is pretty good. It was fine when I left home, with the roads nice and dry which makes a change, but as I approached Box Hill it began to rain a little. There were a few more bikes present than last week with a few quite nice classics.

How about this for a Suzuki GT750 Kettle.
This was in lovely condition.

Continuing on the two stroke theme was this Suzuki RG500, I wasn't struck by the colour but these are getting quite rare nowadays. There was a rather nice VFR400R in the top right of the picture, I wonder who that belonged to :o)) .

As for this :o0 . I would have sold body parts or the wife (well maybe not  ) for this beauty. It really was the dogs dangly bits.
A 1980 CBX complete with Yamaha R1 front end and monoshock rear. The bike didn't have any mirrors but had a camera mounted above the rear light and an LCD monitor fitted inside the small nose fairing. It was very well put together and I was still drooling over it after it left. The 6-1 exhaust looked the business but was surprisingly quiet, which was a bit of shame as the CBX 6 motor really is a joy to be heard when screaming. There's only a couple of things that sends shivers down my spine unfortunately this CBX wasn't one of them but they normally do.

I only had to ride about a mile up the road and the rain stopped and when I got home the sun was shining, British weather eh!

As I didn't get out on a bike over Christmas due to family committments I was determined to go for a ride today. It was pretty cold this morning with lots of ice on the cars, but by the time I'd had a bit of brunch I was ready for it. I headed down to Box Hill keeping on the main roads. Funnily the side roads were nice and dry but the main roads had been covered in a wet salt solution, needless to say I wasn't riding like a hero.

There weren't too many bikes at Box Hill, which was understandable due to the cold weather, but there were a few of the die hard regulars there. I grabbed a hot chocolate at Rykas, had a couple of chats and then continued on my ride. I ended up riding through Ashted Park and then up to Epsom Downs. There was plenty of frost on the grass still so the riding was very liesurely. Although the sunshine had been lovely it was soon starting to get dark in the tree lined roads so I headed back home. I wasn't too cold today apart from a little draft around my back although my feet were feeling it a bit by the time I reached home. My hands were fine although my gloves are really starting to show their age now and need replacing. The bike didn't get too dirty either which was a bonus.

I had a nice little ride out today. First I had to pop up to London to see my mum and then I rode down to Guildford to the Newlands Corner bike meet. After spending a little time here I returned to Box Hill. The reasonable weather meant there were about 250 bikes present which isn't a bad turnout. There were quite a few British classic cafe racers today which caught my eye.

It wasn't packed like a summers afternoon but quite busy.

This Norvin caught my eye and was probably the pick of the bunch. It had a Dresda 8 leading shoe front brake, awesome!

There were a couple of BSA 500 Gold Stars at Box today but I think this was the nicest.

Roll on summer.
