BIKE SHOW NEC 2008 - when are you there?

I had a good time at the show but no real memorable moments although I would have loved to take Freddie Spencers NS500 home with me. It was of course great to meet up with friends from the HOC and to meet a few new ones. I didn't get any bargins though, unlike some people, come to think of it I didn't even spend any money.

I met a few old friends as well (non HOCers), one of which ruined my show by telling me he had just bought an RC45 for a song  . Still I kept telling myself I'd rather have an RC30.

I know it's been said before but well done to all the members who gave up their time and put effort in to making the show a success, especially Ro.

Regards

Chimpy

The mrs and I went on Thursday (4th December).. sorry it's been so long since I was last on here.. would love to say it's because I've been out on the bike so much, but truth is work just got busy... and seeing the HOC at the show reminded me that I haven't been on here for ages

It was our first time at a bike show, and we both really enjoyed it. Sorry I didn't say hello to anyone on the HOC, we were just walking up to it when SWMBO remembered that it was getting close to a certain Mr Toseland signing stuff.. so off we went to join a q.

In terms of bikes there.. I was really supprised at how much at home I felt on a Transalp.. and a R1200GS... I wish I had taken advantage of the BMW low seat demo bikes, but being new to all this two wheel stuff and still abit worried about riding another bike, esp infront of all those people watching... maybe next year I'll have more confidence in myself..

In terms of the discussion on the dolly girls which has been discussed on this thread.. I (and the mrs) went to look at the bikes, look at the bike kit and chat to others who were interested in bikes.. now I somewhat find it a little sad that companies feel that they need to have girlies on their stands wearing next to nothing.. I'm not going to be buying something I don't want (esp something as expensive as a bike) because a girl in (what amounts to) her underwear is sitting on the it..

As far as piccys of the girls go I took one of the autotrader girls (cause they look soo bored and I thought it would be funny, but they saw me and smiled - darn). And to annoy the mrs had my photo taken with on of the girls from the kwak stand (mostly cause I had been winding her (the mrs) up all day about Mr T.. and that fact that she wanted a photo of him and one of her and him). It must be said that I thought that kwak girls were far more covered than most.. Looking back on it, I am somewhat ashamed, as I too basically treated her as an object that I had my photo taken with..

Unfortunately I think that this is the way things are going.. we went to the classic car show (again at the nec) a few weeks before the bike show and yes some of the stands there too had dolly girls wearing not much more than their underwear..

Why does the world only think women can be attractive if they are not wearing much... apart from my mrs I thought the most attractive girl there was on the ducati stand.. and she was wearing jeans and a nicely fitted blouse..

right better stop, don't want to get told off by SWMBO..

hopefully will meet some of you there next year (I'm assuming there'll be a nec bike show 2009)

Aww thanks Chimpy, means a lot xx
Looks like I'm gonna have to tone down the outfits next year though eh, as people obviously don't like that side of the show. Would hate to have anyone talking about me letting the image of the club down. But glad everyone enjoyed themselves anyway.
Thanks again to everyone for all their time and help.......AND HAVE A GREAT XMAS AND NEW YEAR.
I'll try to even though I got informed 3 days ago that I'm out of a job as of the 29th December....so if anyone has anything they need planning and can't be bothered...I have some spare time on my hands for a while till I can find something else :o( :o( :o(

Jennie...Thanks hon, that's so sweet of you. Not a good time though to be looking for jobs eh with so many other retail outlets going under as well at the mo, like Woolies and MFI etc, theres a lot of people looking for very few jobs right now. But I'll keep me chin up and hope for the best.

Thanks Erica, trouble is I work in retail and always have, it's all I know, so there's going to be an awful lot of people looking for work in that area now with everywhere closing down in that sector, but we'll keep looking, got no choice anyway I need to work for financial reasons. I've put a few feelers out already, had one knock back as they didn't have any jobs at the mo, but you get a lot of knock backs before you get a chance. Trouble is it might be all for nothing as someone is desperately trying to buy us, but the current owner is being a dick by the sounds of things and not playing ball, so the talks keep ending in nothing, but we'll keep everything crossed as I like my job there. I don't have to work weekends or bank holidays and have a boss that's very understanding if I need to swap days or have holidays etc, so it suits me just fine....oh well, we'll see..I'll keep u all posted.

Have a fab chrimbo and new year and see u all in january for the next meeting....oh yeah and for the not so secret 50th birthday party for a certain person ;o) ;o) ;o) ;o)
