End of the line for the Blackbird?

End of the line for the Blackbird?

Postby bazka6 on Tue Mar 25, 2008 12:39 pm

Went to the Scottish Motorcycle show in Edinburgh a few weeks back and on reaching the Honda stand was very disappointed not to see a Blackbird on display. Spoke to the rep about the omission who said that Honda were only making about 30 more of the beasts and no more! He told me 'honestly' that he had no idea if there would be a replacement model but that if there was it would be announced near the NEC event in Novemeber. I'm totally shocked that the end of the run for this bike appears to have been kept quiet but even more so that no replacement has been announced. Surely this has to be more of a priority than misfits like the DN-01!?

Yes, its a shame they are not continuing the Blackbird but they said at the NEC it was down to the exhuast emmisions rule and apparently the rumour is that the VFR is next  They also told me something good would be coming up but not sure what! Will have to keep our ears to the ground! :P

Oh dear. Not too worried however, if anybody can do it Honda can, even if it does mean completely new engines. If Kwak can do it with the ZZR1400 and dare I say it Suzuki with the Hayabullsh#t why on earth couln't honda?
Anyhoo, having just finished a two year apprenticeship on an Aprilia RS125 I'm looking forward to my first run out on my recently inherited VFR :o)) on Monday (weather permitting) and my now bikeless dad is seeking a Blackbird (hence the interest), can't wait!
