Camping - which tent? Sleeping bag?

just a few things i've learnt from experience (and fighting cold nights in a tent...)
military kit is normally the best but may not always be practical for carrying on a bike, tents are really much of a muchness as long as you get them from a reputable outdoors/camping shop but its worth investing in a waterproofing spray and using it when you do the "just got a new tent, must check in the garden" get home ritual... :)
what you wear in the sleeping bag helps a lot, i favour a lightweight beanie type hat and some second skin type under leather warmers.
if you want anymore info please get in touch.
enjoy the nights you have under canvas cos even the worst make a good anecdote when you're warm and dry :)
Regards.
Ronin.

I bought a new tent for the Le Mans 24 hour race this year. It was a 2 berth, self erecting affair which was very handy when turning up at 3.00 in the morning. It was very cheap at £15.00 from the cash and carry but at just under a metre in diameter in its bag, not very practical to carry on a bike. I too use an air bed, much more comfortable than a camp bed. Fortunately I don't suffer from the cold and any sleeping bag works for me although it was apparanently quite cold in France last week at 4C overnight but I didn't notice it.

When youv'e bought your tent, do a practice erection in the garden, it can be quite amusing, and entertaining watching somebody put it up for the first time.
