Hey from deepest darkest Reading

Postby Jack on Tue Jul 22, 2008 5:27 pm

Hey everyone!

I've just joined the HOC, along with my girlfriend Lindz who you may know on here already.

I passed my test back in March, since then I've ridden a 1995 Yamaha XJ Diversion (RIP), a 2008 Honda CBF600 (RIP), a 2008 Honda Deauville (may you live happily wherever you are now), a 2008 Honda Hornet 600 (unscathed) and now my beloved mostly 1982 Honda CB750F2C (not running).
Of all the bikes my CB750 is by far my favourite even if it has spent half its time with me deciding not to run and disguising itself as a 1980 model with a reg year of 1985.

I've had an interesting first few months on the road (literally in one case) but it hasn't stopped me from loving motorbiking. It's great and I hope to see some of you on the road sometime. (Though with my luck you may want to keep your distance!)

Welcome Jack, hope you get your 750F sorted soon. I've had two 750Fs and a 900F and really enjoyed them.

Wokingham is deeper and darker than Reading at the moment.

I'd love to see your 900 as I have a bit of a soft spot for the model, even though I have a barn full of 500/4 and 750/4s (not to mention the XS750(s)

Hi Lindz

Yes I do frequent Box Hill quite a lot in the summer if I'm not up to much on a Sunday morning. I like going there in the winter too on a nice crisp sunny morning, makes the cup of coffee really enjoyable (and the bacon roll).

If you plan anything just post up and hopefully I'll be able to meet up there.

Regards

Chimpy

Will do :o)) Hopefully, if Jacks bike is working again by then, we'll be going down this Sunday. My Dad brought a brand new Bonneville T100 yesterday... its ace! So we were thinking it needs an outing :o)

Thanks for the welcome :o)

I've gotta fix my bike now, or everyone in the forum will be at Box Hill except me  Unless we can get a tow rope...

So tonight I will be taking out the carburettors again and checking the floats and float needles. I think I may have fixed the initial problem by replacing the fuel filter and then created another when I took out the carbs and cleaned them (improperly it may seem) :x
I need to read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance again...

Jack and my Dad got his bike running again last night :o)) So looks like Box Hill is a definate possibility for Sunday, although the weather forecast for Sunday at the mo looks pretty shitty :o(

I must admit the weather forecast doesn't look too good for Sunday and I may be a bit hungover, it's my little boys birthday party on Saturday evening.

I will try and get there though!

Yeah, we have a party on Saturday too, we were just going to not have a drink but it is likely to be a late one... also with the weather forecast looking like it is, maybe Box Hill will be put off till the following week.... Guess we'll just have to see Sunday morning.
