Hello from the mildly moist South West

Postby Oldstrokers on Fri Aug 08, 2008 8:29 am

Hi- I'm from Ugborough, Devon and am the proud and frustrated owner of an NS400R.
Proud as I've rebuilt it from a vanload of bits (still got another 1 1/2 to build!) over the last 2 years. Frustrated that, since getting it road legal a couple of weeks ago, it hasn't stopped raining.
I've been into bikes- especially 2 strokes- since the mid 70's and am a sort of "born again, born again" biker having had a couple of breaks to indulge in other diversions.
This is only my second Honda- I had a 400 four briefly, but Honda wouldn't play with large capacity 2 strokes so I favoured the other big 3 manufacturers.
Bike history- roughly chronological (feel free to skip this bit if easily bored)
Zundapp 200; MZ TS150; Kawasaki H1A 500; Cossack Jupiter 350; Triumph 3TA; Triumph Bonneville 650; Honda CB400F; Yamaha RD400; Kawasaki H2B 750; Yamaha RD500; Suzuki RG500; Suzuki GS550 (x2); Honda NS400R (x 2.5).
Looking forward to meeting/ chatting with some of you in the future
Mark

Hello Mark,

Welcome to the forum from a very wet Norfolk. Like the bike and I'm sure you'll get a "Hello" from another Mark soon (a.k.a. two-strokes).

See you around,
Regards,
Viffer.

Hi Mark and welcome to the forum from me.

That's a lovely looking restoration on the NS, well done. I've also got a Honda 400, but a four stroke V4 NC30.

Ugborough is really nice, my cousin Adrian has a dairy farm there, great part of the country.

Enjoy the bike when the rain stops.

Regards

Chris
You hum it son, I'll play it!

Thanks for the welcome Viffer, Chimp Boy, Chris 'TR' and jallen. Thanks also for being kind enough not to point out that the bodywork is a mishmash of HRC/ Rothmans/ Jap & UK spec :o))
Once I've finished the spraying, the bike will be HRC colours Image.
For the moment, I've just thrown on bits of spare plastic that were lying around in parts mountain. At least the rear side panels are "right". I just want to get out and ride it- roll on Summer

Hi Mark,

Welcome to the forum :o)

Nice to see another NS or 2 1/2 on here...

I've always favoured the HRC bike, but that didn't stop me buying a good Rothmans bike when it came up for sale a few years back...

Keep us posted on the restoration, and hope to see you out and about. That's if it stops raining of course...

Thanks for the warm, but unfortunately still wet welcome everyone.
Guy and Mark- nice to see you on here as well as the NS400R forum. I wonder how many of us there are on the road at the moment as most NS400's seem to be off the road looking for parts
Mind you, I use the term "on the road" loosely as I don't intend riding mine underwater :x

Well, I've got two on the road at the moment... That's better than most NS owners.. ;o)

The third is AWI attention. Well, I say attention. It's several boxes of bits at the moment.... When it's built, hopefully it's gonna be a bit quick...

Will either of you be going to Gaydon at the weekend? I'm planning on taking my Rothmans bike. If it pishess down, that may change though...

As far as I know, we're the only members of the NS forum on here. I speak to Alastair from time to time, but he's not not here. He's got a 'blade too, so should be...

Injected, if you're at a loose end on Monday, pop across to Wellingborough for the Northants & MK charity auction. Starts 1pm ish. It'd be good to see your bike in the flesh. I might even take both bikes, as it's only a mile from my house..

Oldstrokers, you're more than welcome to join us too. I've got a snorkel you can borrow

 Fair enough.

Wouldn't want to see you with rusty nuts  ;o)

Almost afraid to ask, which nuts in particular...?
