Mmmmm, i think it could confuse people putting times on things as all road conditions are different, everything on that is just common seance..worth having a look at so thanks for sharing...

The thing is the gaps and times change with different bikes, as in if you were on a 125 you need lots of space but on a blade you can nip past in a second or two..... Use your Head and you no your bike what ever it is.....

It's a bit long-winded. Besides, who has time to get their laptop out and watch that Powerpoint clip each time they want to overtake.........

At what point do vehicles approaching in the opposite lane become oncoming traffic?

If you can't avoid them and they hit you!!

This is of course all very well if you're on a large capacity bike with plenty of power. When you're riding a small bike you don't have the luxury of being able to pull out and then nail it.

From what I've seen all of the advanced riding courses assume you are riding a large capacity bike.

I do think large capacity bikes, with their instant, massive acceleration, can make riders take chances rather than wait for opportunities. I am sure that many drivers are very surprised when they are overtaken in circumstances they would have thought impossible.

I must say when I got my Deauville 700, I had to change my riding style because of its comparatively slow acceleration when compared to my BMWR1100R and my previous Varadero.

The Deauvilel did enforce a more relaxed style of riding and once you got used to it, it was quiet pleasant. But the Transalp that replaced it is more pleasant
