ok maybe could have worded this better, frame is to be stripped and powder coated, what i am on about is things like the stainless steel, and chrome on the bike , dont want to rechrome all of bike , way to much money, and also the engine when rebuilt would like it to be polished , i have sem these in rs and am trying to find out if worth buying to restore the bright parts on bike and what order to use them and what restores to use on certain metals

ie chrome use ?
stainless use ?

here is link what i am on about
http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/sear ... 4871&Nty=1

ps where abouts you in northants , i am in corby

cheers mike

Polishing cases (you can't easily do the rest of the engine) is a very messy thing, with the mops. pastes etc. I wonder how many people who actually but these kits at shows or mail order continue using them after having tried it once? Easier to have professionally cleaned, and then lacquer or paint.
You can't polish the chrome much more than with chrome cleaner, as you'll wear it away. Stainless you can polish away as long as you like until you are happy.

If the rims are ali, I would use nitromore to strip the laqure, and then poilish with the dremel

I've polished many parts on my bikes, I have a selection of wheels which mount on a bench grinder and various polishing compounds. Best to remove any paint or lacquer first as it saves time when using the mops. I've removed quite deep scratches from some components.
