Deauville 700 running in speeds

Postby carat1964 on Thu Jan 07, 2010 1:14 pm

Hi Iam a new honda owner and was wondering if anyone can tell me what sort of speed / revs I should be running my Deauville 700 at whilst running it in? All I have been told is not to use full throttle or harsh acceleration. Thanks :o?

Hi carat, when running in a new engine i was advised to allow the engine rev freely (but not on full throttle) through the gears, don't allow the engine to labour in a high gear, change down in good time(up hills etc)and try not to travel at a constant speed mile after mile.Running in isn't as critical as it used to be as modern engines are partially run in and tested at the factory, hope this helps, tommy

Good guide has always been use upto 75% of the available rev range moving through the gears. This does not overlode the engine. Be sympathethic to the sound of your engine.

Thanks for that. I have been using around 60% so is good to know that I can use a bit more.

Dont stay at the same revs all the time, you need to vary using full rev range but not full throttle as mentioned, keep going up and down the gears, as also mentioned, the engineering is far better these days and as such no specific running in of the engine is necessary just dont thrash it!
