Thank's Witch if possible could you take a picture of where the spring is secured to the bike, the pictures on the link were great (nice paint job on the engine) but didn't show me where top of spring goes.

Hi Dougie,

Its too dark to go and take a photo right now however i will try and explain how it fits firstly here is a photo of the spring and the plate like hook that ataches to the frame of the bike.

The bottom of the spring attaches to the right hand side of the main stand (looking from the rear of the bike)
the top end hooks into the plate as can be seen in the photo.

The top hole in the plate attaches to a hook in the middle of the bar of the frame directly above the mainstand.
If you look on the photo from my restoration where the welded on torque bar fitting is you can just see the plate attaching to the frame.

If this doesn't help I will take a photo tomorrow when its light again

Cheers Witch

Hi Dougie,

Glad to be of help. I used "Simoniz Engine Enamel" for my engine in a spay can (I have sprayed professionally in the past however).
There is a Topic somewhere here about different products people have used to re-paint engines but at the end of the day I went down to our local motorist shop and had a chat with the guys there.

As with any paint job the secret is in the preparation get the engine as clean as possible and remove all or as much as possible of any old paint, make sure it is dry and free from grease before spraying.
