CB750 F2C Fairing in a basket

Postby Keithcb750 on Sat May 31, 2008 4:56 pm

Hiya, does anyone know where to find detailed instructions on how to put a CB750 fairing back on? The bike is near perfect, but the fairing was removed for the restoration as is basket of bits. I haven't seen anything in manuals etc.? :?:

Greetings...

If you find yourself short of any bits for your fairing let me know.

This is a 4.5mb .pdf which should sort you out.
If this link fails to work then IM me and i will email it to you.

But why you would want to spoil the lines of you F bike is beyond me -- personally i think naked is best.......

I had an F2C and it came with a massive fairing fitted as standard complete with separate legshields.

The headlamp and mirrors and possibly the indicators were fitted into it so making it into a naked bike reqired a fair bit of work and parts.

I have a couple of old pics of mine if anyone's interested.

My 750 F2 didn't have the legshields but was still quite different to the naked 900F that I also had. I liked the half fairing that the F2 models had and it certainley improved the aerodynamics (top speed ;o) , was a bit naughty then).

You definitely wouldn't want a CB1100R without the fairing especially the RD.

My legshields had been removed when I bought it but came with the bike so I refitted them just for the sake of completeness.

Its quite an uncomplicated job to take these fairings off and doing so undoubtedly improves the lines of these bikes by a huge amount. A different headlight bowl is needed and also the odo/tach mounting bracket will need replacing with a naked variant which will also then allow for the front indicators to reposition up on the headlamp ears, or FA -FB indicator mounts can be sourced but these are very rare to find these days in serviceable condition.

With fairing UGH.....

Without OOOOH....

These bikes were initially designed 'naked' and although available as an after-market accessory the fairing (with associated frame and fixings weighing over 35 kilos btw) was only made a standard spec option after 3 or so years of production.

These F's have the most superb classic lines and to stick such a monstrosity of a fairing on one is V bad taste indeed. But sadly i accept that there are peeps who are willing to compromise the style and the classic line of their F in favour of 'not getting so wind blow' during their commute to work.
......But i concur, - traveling at top end speeds on these vehicles for any length of time can be a challenge at best. 135mph winds throttling you with your helmet strap is no fun. But remember guys and gals, you may be choking to death but you're doing it with classic styling and uncompromising elegance...

Hi all,

I've just joined the HOC Forum - I'm on the lookout for a fairing to suit my 1985 CB750FD (with less than 4000 miles on the clock from new - must try harder!). A Hondaline version (in vgc, with all necessary brackets etc. to fit) would be ideal, as fitted to the F2 model. Or open to offers?

Thanks.
