CB250 n workshop manual

Postby d9f9jy on Sat Jul 12, 2008 6:18 pm

does any one have or know where I can find a workshop manual for a honda cb250n 1978 model. My husband had one bought for his birthday, our sons "helped" to take it to peices for restoration when we were away on holiday. Now we cant put the jigsaw back together. We have a Haynes it tells us nothing, have looked for hours over the internet but were only able to find a CB250 (Not a CB250N) manual - Aparrently they are very differnt and what do I know I am only the tea / bacon butty lady! I also have the Haynes manual for the CB250/400N models and found it OK when I rebuilt my 400N, but I did take the bike to bits myself. Sure the Haynes Manuals aren't as good as genuine Honda articles but they are better than nothing.

My 400N turned out quite well.

But I sold it soon after this picture was taken.

Thanks Chimpy, the kids stripped it down to the nuts and bolts level, not like whole lumps ie engine, carbs etc.

I had to rebuild the engine on mine, the crank had gone (big end), so I decided to do a full strip and powder coat the frame and other black cycle parts. It wasn't too difficult a rebuild (some of the fours I have done have been much more involved) and it went back together without any real problems. You may want to try and get a parts manual as well as they often help when rebuilding a bike.

Chimpy, I am the tea lady! would you be so kind as to define "Parts Manual" what is the difference between that and a Haynes. Is it the same as a workshop manual?

Hi Wendy

The parts manual will be an official Honda publication. These show the complete bike in sub assemblies with part numbers and quantities used. They often turn up on e bay in either original form as a book, a microfiche (not too easy unless you have a reader) or in the form of a CD. Occasionally you will find a link to one that someone has up loaded onto the web. Unfortunately I don't know of any that are available for the Superdreams, but it might be worth doing a search, you could well unearth something.

David Silver have one for sale here.....

http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/part ... part_2549/

There's only one left, and it's £15.50 and it's a photocopy. But it'll be the best manual you can get for the rebuild.

They've got good pictures of how a Superdream (and many other Honda's) fits together here...

http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb250na-1980 ... partslist/

You can even buy most spare parts too, but they're expensive.

Hope that helps,

Al.

Hi, did the lady ever buy that manual? I am putting a bike together and realise what a fool I'd been in not taking hundreds of piccies as I stripped it. I do have some problems now finding where everything goes. I have a parts manual - great exploded diagrams and all the part numbers of course, but bits sort of float in the air in these diagrams and you still can't tell how things should sit.
