Black engine oxidisation

Postby jimityk on Fri Jun 19, 2009 8:10 pm

Hi,

I own a XL600rmg 1987.

Its in pretty great shape except the engine head has lost quite alot of its black.

Short of pulling the enging out, is there any product you can recommend, spray/paint to bring it back to black.

Thanks in advance,

jimity

Back to Black exhaust paint is a spray designed to with stand exhaust temps. However it is a Matt finish which may not be what you want. Smoothrite by Hammerrite is good for finish but I am not sure about the heat resistance.

Samsonite engine enamel is what I used for my KZ and it is available in different colours including black I think it is a better choice than Hammerite
