250N Superdream tyres

Postby steeder on Sun May 03, 2009 7:51 am

Hi again,
I recently posted a question about tyre sizes on a 250N Superdream, now i have another on the same subject.
I wondered if anyone knows if i could fit a 100/90 H19 front and a 110 or 120/90 H18 rear to the `dream instead of the 90/90 H19 and the 110/90 H18.
The reason for this is because there seems to be a lot more choice of tyres in matching pairs in the larger size and at better prices ( i`v been quoted silly money for matching Avons ).
There seems to be room on the bike for this fitment but i dont know if it will affect the handleing. Any thoughts or advice would be very much appreciated.
Thanks once again, Gaz. :o)

If it fits on the rims and there is plenty of clearance it should be ok. The only things I am aware of is that the geometry of the bike does change a little. You know, rake and trail angles and the like. So if the tyres are a lot bigger (or smaller) the more these angles will change as will the handling. Also the speedo will be out. So be aware.

Although the tyres may well fit on to the rims, the cross sectional profile will be different, causing the tyre to be more pointed. This actually puts less rubber on the road and will give the bike a tendancy to fall into corners. Check the rim width recommendation from the tyre supplier and I think you'll find your answer as the Superdreams do not have very wide rims.

Finaly got round to getting the tyres. National Tyres in Barnsley sorted me a nice pair of Avon RoadRiders for £125 fitted and balanced. I had previously been quoted upto £160 so i`m a happy chappy :o)) :o)) :o)) :o)) :o))

Well on my CX500 which is a bit heavy on back tyres anyway I got around 3500 miles out of the back tyre and about double that out of the front. I have just put a set on my CB750kz and I can't say how long they will last at the moment as I had Metzlers on before.

Witch what on earth do you do with your CX?????? I used to get 8-10,000 out of a rear Avon and 16,000 at least on the front. Believe you me I was no slouch rider and not the lightest either often carrying luggage.

You have got me thinking now Dibble I must have made a mistake I rode the bike for 2 years before putting it on sorn and did nearly 12,000 changing the back tyre once for the last MOT. If I could fine the last mot doc I would be able to tell exactly how long the Avon lasted but now I think about it it must have been at least 6,000 probably 7,000

Most of the time two up.
