Yes stange as it might seem to some we are one of the oldest Japanese Motocycle (distinbguishing us from German and british makes of bike) clubs in the world and we celebrate our 50th year in 2011.

To celebrate this we are looking at events for that year and ideas from the members that they might like to see as a special event.

So anyone got any thoughts that they would like to share or if not share on the Forum then send to me at chairman@hoc.org.uk

Andy,

It seems to me that the best thing would be to have an extra special 'National' event! The venue will need to be central and I suggest that we spend some money on entertainment, Hog Roast, publicity etc etc. If its 'marketed' properly, (get Erica to advise!!) it will be more or less self financing!

..Sponsorship and assistance from Honda and other interested parties will go some way to helping with the cost! Im not suggesting that we book 'Snow Patrol' but a decent band and maybe fancy dress night all helps to get the thing going!!

It needs a project team to look at the possibilities and explore venues etc! ..Well I volunteer to assist if you need help matey!

Hi Andy

Without doubt the National Rally needs to be extra special for the occasion and event to be remembered. A suitable venue that would attract the maximum number of members and of course fantastic weather (oh well can't win them all).

I'm sure more ideas will surface as you have prompted us to think about it.

National Rally is normally September time. What about a special riding event earlier in the year? Sort of like - from all over the country, ride past special stages and then meet up at a central location for a decent BBQ or something.

We also have Gayden which seems to be fairly successful.

As others have said, we MUST get Honda involved. Not sure how yet - maybe an anniverary edition of a motorcycle with profits going to HOC? Or a special deal for all HOC members?

I think it would be cool if 50 'anniversary' events could be arranged (not as bad as it sounds when we have so many branches dotted around the place and if you look at the diary for this year there are probably way more than that already!) and of course a very very special National Rally... and possibly an additional 50th Anniversary Party (such as Chris T-R was alluding to), a special anniversary camping weekend... HOC Roast.... special anniversary rides... competitions... a celebratory bike show maybe... the stands at the BMF and NEC will need to be extra special too... 'national' meets... like the roast but perhaps every branch descending upon one venue for lunch .... such as Donington....(which is where we have the AGM) with a special guest speaker... Saddle Sore Shield could have an extra dimension to it... a special 'anniversary events' section perhaps... there's so many things!

We cannot let the 50th year go by with out a big celebration.
can we not look at taking over a caravan park/camping park .
maybe arrange it around were the first branch was set up all those years ago and invite the original members.
I have contacts for a couple good bands that play a mixture music.
if the ball gets rolling now then everyone could book the dates to make sure its a great turn out.
we could get the local press involved and may be some celebs
you could do it as a ticket event and that would generate funs to fun it
