Snatchy Transmission.

Any Dream owners or similarly cush drive equipped machines whose transmission is "snatchy "
when accelerating or shutting off ,is probably experiencing the effects of worn cush drive rubbers or blocks. The picture shows one answer :- cut strips of 16g ally or steel and bend them to shape around an existing block.

Is the transmission snatchy all the way through the gears or only low down. I have noticed when my idle isn't adjusted correctly (too low) The bike tends to snatch in the low gears.
The picture shown looks like a cheap fix. Are the rubbers in poor condition? If so would replacing them be a better option? Part availability of course.

Yes thats a good point,
this fix would only apply if the rubbers themselves are not perished or gone soft through oil exposure, but I have done this on 2 dreams now where the rubber was solid enough but maybe compressed somewhat and the blocks seemed to have wear. It maybe the blocks that have worn, either way, this mod can cure it.

I can remember doing a similar 'fix' on drum brakes. That was when we had to fix the lining to the shoes ourselves and the actual shoes used to wear at their ends.

Yep,

I remember doing it to my " Dommi " front brake ,a mixture of drum wear and shoe wear I think. Still relevant to drum back brakes come to think of it

using ice-cream tub plastic can also be used in a similar way( done this on my vtr), also semi seized chain can have same effect with a bit of vibration.
