Stolen from a google search

Honda's highly capable H.I.S.S. anti-theft system features a fail-safe electronic interlock that prevents the engine from being started in any other way than using the motorcycle's two original keys. Totally disabling the engine at the very heart of its ignition system, the system cannot be bypassed by either hot-wiring the ignition or exchanging the ignition switch module, thus effectively deterring joyriders and greatly reducing the possibility of ride-away theft.

Honda's H.I.S.S. 2 was launched in 2003 and by passing Thatcham’s five-minute attack test won Category 2 approval from them. What sets the new system apart from its predecessor is a secure bracket, which holds the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) in place, making its removal almost impossible. The new system was developed by Honda in conjunction with vehicle alarm specialist, Datatool.

I've got an insurance company insisting on evidence of a security system for my 2003 VFR 800F-2 VTECH. I thought that this was standard and cannot find any evidence in my documentation.

They want to charge me an extra £22 if I can't prove the bike's got HISS and say the underwriter is insistent.

Advice please?

Take a photograph of the ignition switch?
or
Find a Honda brochure - all VTEC's came with HISS as standard in the UK

Any decent insurance company will know HISS is fitted to what models.

Yes, I thought Devitt/Churchill would know that! Serves me right for going for the cheapest!

alansh: thanks for that - I've remembered where I've seen HISS now!

Now sorted. P&H, my local dealer, provided a letter - what service!

They also did the MoT!

Don't be too hard on the insurance companies for wanting to check. All UK Wings are fitted with HISS, but mine hasn't got it.

My insurers have never asked, so maybe they are working on the assumption that my bike is protected when it isn't.
Waiting patiently for a V8 Wing.
