CX500B Carbs

Postby Witchmaster on Wed Aug 20, 2008 3:48 pm

Hi, can anyone tell me what those little brass nozzles are for in both pics?
They are not connected to anything they pee petrol when the Carbs are turned on the side and they are not shown at all in any of the manuals that I have or on any schematic digrams that I have.

Cheers Witch

They look like the vents to the emissions canister on Ducatis - is that a possibility on such an old bike? If it is that, blanking them off has no effect, but of course they shouldn't be peeing fuel out in the first place...

I had a feeling too that they were some sort of vent....the only pee fuel when turned 90° with the hole downwards !! .... they have come of a running bike whuch had no probs !!

Could be the vents for the float chamber.

The chambers have to be at atmospheric pressure so they're open to the outside world but won't leak fuel in normal use.

So why wouldn't you would use the same points on the inlets between the carbs and the cylinder head, just like any other bike? The CX does have them, and its carbs can be balanced, too! Honda have even put a little screw in the holes to seal them when not in use..............

As a newbie on this forum, but a regular on many others, I have to say that this is probably the "prickliest" site that I've come across. As a welcome to HOC ownership, it ranks up there with looking to join a community, paying my 20 quid through PayPal and getting nothing back apart from a "thanks for taking my money" email. If all of you good people on here want the HOC to continue, I suggest you do a bit of navel gazing, think about why you're here and sort it out...
Try a search on "newbie" if you want to see what I'm talking about...

Dunno what's "prickly" about this one. You could have found a far more controversial subject on this forum to put your comments. I don't think yours fits in with the subject "CX500B Carbs", does it?

Most of the comments are just teasing, some others are winding people up...........
