I would be nice if, when you register, you fill out some information about yourself. It's not compulsory - but it means we get to understand you a bit better.

You can do it afterwards by clicking on the "profile" button near the top of the page.

Hmmm, So from your own profile Alan, I dont know your proper name, where you actually live, what you actually do, what your personal email is, or even what bike you ride! :?

Perhaps you would like to set a good example! Your own profile is rather non-specific dont you think?

I think folks would perhaps share more personal info if it could only be accessed by other members in a.....wait for it......Members Only area

By the way, HAPPY NEW YEAR! :D

The answer there Al..Er...weve been here a few times before I think!!..is to restrict the profile to members only ie..you need a password to get access!, should not be a big deal! 8)

...However, your comments have made me realise that I need to update my profile as well!!....., to be honest, I do not look at others and have always felt that this was not an important part of membership!..who really cares what I do for a living or what bike I ride?.....Opinions please folks! (not specifically about me of course!) :)
Who Cares if it aint Broke!!..Fix it Anyway!!

HaHa, I was having a bit of fun with you Al!

I think it would be nice to see where someone actually lived and what bike(s) they have and what their real name is, but if this information is available to anyone, it would not be too hard to find out the house address, know when they are attending a HOC event and rob the house, or steal the bike, so I guess no info is the thing really, kinda sad eh? I'll change mine I think!

Personally, I think its a good idea to encourage people to fill in their profile. Jeez, nobody's asking for your full postal address, so where's the harm? Even the age thing is valuable to me - hell, I don't want to be unknowingly talking to a teenage hoody!

So ageism rears its ugly head! Perhaps you should put a footer on your posts "Only people of the same age and dress sense as me to reply"

I reckon first name, town where you live, bike you ride and occupation and age (if anyone wants to) would be good and definitely a picture so we can recognise each other at events - no harm in any of that I reckon.

Members only area, I am sure I was shot down for suggesting such an area, however I still feel the HOC members should have such an area

IMO, the only things that are nice-to-haves are Name, Bike, Picture, Location and HOC Branch. Occupation and Age are totally irrelevent to me, I dont care how old you are, or what you do for a living.
