NEW BIKE SPEEDING CAMERAS

Postby Chris'TR' on Tue Aug 05, 2008 6:40 pm

Well, its that time where we can no longer ride bye mobile vans with the 'best finger' up! ( yesterday comes to mind!!) Latest camera van has a vehicle 'bristleing with cameras' side, back and front with the aim of getting us two wheeled machines!.....

Been trialed in Rutland on A47..... but watch out people cos its being rolled out cross the country!

...I still cant help feeling that the Police need to concentrate on 'Proper' criminals! We seem to be fixated with speeding motorists!! Oh I can feel my blood boiling now cos there are real criminals out there...however, the incompetent cops find it easier to make up their 'stats' by going for the easy target!!...speeding cars/bikes!..Its a sad time for us all..The flippin Cops must wake up and smell coffee!! Its just crap to tell me that its 'vital' to reduce the relatively small No of deaths on the road when drug dealers, Pimps, drug addicts and burglars (mostly drug fuelled!) roam our neighbourhoods!) the World has gone mad and its time for someone to say...ENOUGH!! LETS LOOK AT WHAT IS PRIORITY AND APPLY RESOURCE ACCORDINGLY!! ..Mr Chief Of Police!? Bet you think you know better than me? Dont think so Matey!!!
Who Cares if it aint Broke!!..Fix it Anyway!!

Police are no different to any other major business these days, and it is a business. their funding is proportional to their results, and motoring offences are an easy crime to solve, photographic evidence isn't easy to contest so most don't bother.
What other area of crime can you put one man out on watch and solve hundreds of crimes in a single afternoon?

We are just the same in the security game, constantly reminded (like norty children) that we should do our jobs in such and such a way so it looks better on the monthly stats.

In many cases the service to the customers is compromised (still just like the police then).

Country's gone mad... I just keep saying to my boss, 'remember Enron?'
hohoho. :o))

Sorry - but that philosophy is all wrong. Policing should be a service offered by a democratic government and not subject to supply & demand. It's what we pay taxes for - so why should we pay twice.

We don't necessarily like speed limits, but in most cases they are put there for a reason. If you knowingly break ANY law you must be prepared to accept the consequences.

Remember the police do not make the laws, our wonderful politicians have that priviledge, they only enforce them. On a road, near where I work, the speed limit was recently changed from 40 to 30 due to the actions of one particular councillor. A huge amount of people have protested at this including the local police but the council admitting it was a poor decision, has stated that it would be too expensive to change it back.

It is a terrible shame though that the police like most other public services are being run by accountants and not for the benefit of the public.

Round here the speed cameras are operated by the local council and not by the police.

The vans have Lancashire County Council all over them and yellow flashing lights on the roof.

Revenue raised goes to the council to fund new cameras and maintain the existing stock, allegedly.

THERE ARE LIES, DAMN LIES & STATISTICS........there was never a truer saying.

I recently read a chief officer saying that he was rigorously enforcing speed checks on motorcyclist because of the large number of their deaths on the roads in his county. The immediate correlation of this statement is that they were all going too fast. This is where the lie begins. Yes, some will have been going too fast ....for the circumstances, not neccesarily in excess of the limit. Some will be due to inexperience, some will have been no fault of theirs at all. Unfortunately it is convenient & sadly more financialy beneficial, to leave those factors out of the equasion. Lets educate ALL roadusers to be more aware of eachother & of their own limitations whatever vehicle they may be driving. Bashing one single sector will not improve road safety it will just breed resentment from that one section & opression & distaste from the remainder towards them.

I firmly believe that there is a section of society who are totaly obsessed with controlling the actions of all the others, road users are just one of the victims. Look at the whole picture & how our political SERVANTS regard themselves as our political MASTERS. Have you noticed how the number of previously national limit roads are being reduced first to 50mph then 40mph for no logical reason? Have you noticed that for almost every deviation in the road ahead there is a speed limit or other instruction?.

If you stop people having to think for themselves then not only do they not know what to do when confronted with a situation for which there is no instruction but you also get them on the road to totalitarianism. Beware...!!

You are right of course Chimpy, laws should not be casually broken, but it is now impossible to drive anywhere without cantravening some legislation or other, even the Cops at ground level want to go after the true bad guys but are prevented in many cases by the amount of paperwork involved in bringing a 'proper' criminal to book, and in order to fufill the promises of results by their superiors, are therefore sent in search of easy targets.
There was a blow for common sense a while back, when some forces promised to take the burden of paperwork off their beat officers, so far the result is not unexpected... nothing has happened.

Also, a couple of years ago, my wife was casually driving down a road that she has travelled for many years (doing I think it was 36mph), a camera said 'flash' and having now been alerted to something different, she noticed the road, which has been a 40 limit since gawd knows when, is now a 30 limit, it's her first speeding ticket EVER.
I had my first once since 1979 a few months later, doing 48 in what was normally a 50 but had been reduced to 40 temporarily (and is now deristricted), we know other people who have had none or none for years suddenly getting tickets in changed limits, there is a definite con going on...

I thought I had finished.. but now my blood is boiling a little....

If I break the law knowingly and with intent, I deserve all I get, I REALLY resent being criminalised for being caught out by some trickery.
They didn't even have the decency to send my Licence to Swansea, and wrote the endorsement in pen, cheeky ba*ds took my £60 and wouldn't even pay for a stamp!

All this money making shit does nothing to endear either the Police or local government to Joe Public, simply causes more distrust of both.

I think that what you & I & thousands of others feel Wolfie is quite normal, but we are in a situation which we can neither control nor contribute towards & hence feel even more frustration. :o(

Thousands have already gone, in some areas it's difficult to find a person working who has heritage in the UK.

No 'English' left in London, motorway services, many shops.....
