Personally, I think Britain is still a pretty good place to be and would need a very good reason to emigrate.

I cant understand how anyone can moan about being caught speeding, the speed limit signs are always there if the limit changes and in the main I believe that the speed limits are there for good reason also, particularly 30 & 40 mph, of course there are times when we all think it should be more, but its no good moaning about it, the law is the law and I think most people accept where we would be without it, anarchy.

I got my first 3 points for many years last year and I was 'only' doing 95 on the M6. Mind you, I had been doing substantially more a few minutes earlier so I recon I was very lucky!

Anyway, it must be great in Britain, we else would every bugger come here!

.......Humm!! Think you missed the point Al!..yes there are legitimately posted speed signs and I will always respect the 30/40 mph signs as quite right they are usually around built up/school/hospital/OAP areas!..The point is that many restricted speed roads are such for no apparent reason..furthermore, I realise that we have to cater for the 'worst case' A***le driver who basicly cant and shouldnt be alowed to drive....But thats no reason to persecute the rest of us!.....My point was that Police should go and catch the 'real' criminals!

........This is a free Country and we enjoy Free speech! (being undermined now by the 'do gooders') Just because someone has passed a law saying 'thou shalt not'..dosnt mean that we cant question and challenge! Im no sheep nor will I ever be! Ive said enough on this subject so promise to shut up!!

Chris, I dont think I did miss the point actually, It is not a huge conspiracy mate. :o? Just beacause its not appaent to you why the road is restricted to a particular speed, does not mean that there isnt a good reason!

Your point about "police should be out catching criminals" is a familiar cry from the proletariat but I think a bit misguided, my understanding is that the vast majority of manned speed cameras are local authority and I cant remember the last time I saw a copper with a speed gun.

Mine was a copper with a gun, a bike copper too, I didn't even consider the possibility until I was almost passing him... far too late.
just looked like any old bike at the side of the road, sneaky you see.

Well never suggested that to be the case...Im pretty bright to be honest and can evaluate 'potential dangers' and for the record was a Police Officer . (Never made it a career cos it was never going to do it for me!)..( Oh I left the RAF and spent two years doing it to fulfil me ambition to be one! in 2002-2004!) rejoined RAF and frankly, never looked back!..life seems to be more of a mystery every day! not sure where 'ignorance' overlays just complete stupidity...judgement is always a fine line but must surely be based on life experience. What do you think?...Of course there is no conspiracy...its far more subtle than that and Roy eluded to that in an earlier post!..Hey Ho..!

Chris has a point here Al, I know this is a bike forum & not a political forum but once you start blindly following the orders of 'officials' (often these days unelected & therefore unremoveable) on the assumption that they must be right then you are well on the way to a ditatorship. I am sure we can all think of comparisons in that respect. Edmund Burke said "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing"

And on behalf of Chris T-R, I don't think it's fair to describe him or any others on this board as part of the 'proletariat'. I think that's pretty insulting, but I am sure you didn't mean it that way.

Sorry Guys, of course it is a conspiracy! The Police themselves said so several years ago when the cameras started to proliferate.

And I quote, "we intend to make casual speeding as socially unacceptable as Drink driving has become in recent years".

Ed, I dont "blindly follow the orders of officials" but I do try my best to obey the law of this land, which last time I looked was a democracy, administered by an elected Government.

Edmund Burke said "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing"

Word fail me! This is the UK Ed, not the Middle East!

Ed, what totally emotive tosh. Chris is a friend and knows me well enough to know that I would not insult him in any way and he certainly doesnt need you to hold his coat for him! If you are sure I didnt mean it, why mention it? Anyway, I have always thought of Chris as being closer to bourgeoisie! ;o)
I used the term proletariat to mean the working classes. The statement was factually correct, but as usual someone has to make it personal. I will make no more comments on this topic, or any other for a while, too p1ssed off  (loud cheers heard in the distance)
