Iknow just what you mean!
I met the founder Paolo Volpara in Turkey in 2000, he had just started the club and was looking for members. With a membership fee of some £100.00 and with very few riders of big bikes in Turkey at the time, I did not think he had much chance of getting it going. I do not know what the joining fee is now.
I underestimated Paolo! He is an Italian who has lived in the UK and America, did rather well for himself in business and has now retired to Turkey - he has a very nice second home in Gocek, overlooking Fethaye. He speaks several languages, is an expert on Turkish sites of antiquity and has a very forceful personality - he reminded me of Mussolini, in both looks and attitude. He is an elitist who expects, and demands, his helpers in the club to show the same diligence as himself.
I am still in contact with a number of Turkish bikers I met on my trip and I have met more at various VIM's. They all know or at least know of Paolo - I have not come across anyone who actually likes Paolo! But they all respect him and his achievement at developing motorcycling as a leisure activity in Turkey.
As I said, it is a different sort of club.
