Restrictor kit CBR400RR NC23

Postby Thunderbyrd on Mon Aug 18, 2008 9:12 pm

I've just passed my A2 test and am searching for a restrictor kit (without having to spend a fortune on a new one). If anyone has one that is lying around please let me know and I will buy it from you.

Thanks

I think that you still need to have it professionally fitted with an appropriate certificate for insurance purposes.

The A2 test is where you do your test on a 125cc bike. When you pass your bike (if it's above a 125cc) is restricted to 33bhp for 2 years, thereafter you can have the restrictors taken out of the bike and ride any cc bike. This is the alternative to the A1 test (Direct Access).

Given my small stature and the fact that I've only been riding since early this year I decided it was the better route for me.

Hi John

It will be professionally fitted. I checked with my insurance company yesterday and they have confirmed that they do not require a Certificate (for my own piece of mind I am happy to take the bike - once the restrictor is fitted - for a dyno test. There is no way that I would ride it without the restrictor (I work for Solicitors and therefore not happy to "break the law").

Hi Thunderbyrd

Welcome to the forum from me.

If you haven't already tried it might be worth asking on http://www.400greybike.cc which is dedicated to 400cc imports. There have been restrictor kits for sale there in the past. I also have a 400 grey, a VFR400R NC30.

Regards

Chimpy

Hi Chimpy

thanks for the info - I'm already a member of 400greybike and have posted up there. If I'd been a bit quicker off the mark I would have a restrictor from one of the members. Let's hope there's someone else losing theirs soon.
