I will be interested in your thought in what - 30 years time?

Was having my blood pressure checked last week. Showed the doctor what looked like a graze on my arm. 'Whats that' said I. 'Senile Porpura' said he. :?

He knows I ride a bike, he said, If you were a bike, you would have two alternatives - 1. complete refurbishmen, or 2. ride it 'till it gives up the ghost - you are not a bike :?

Then by way of encouragment - 'see you in six months' :D

Attended a local meeting organised by a member of the Transalp forum last night. Six of us turned up at the pub. There was talk of making it a regular monthly meeting and of ad hock rides in the Spring/Summer.

I did not mention the HOC-GB, but I think I may have found my Secretary of the Essex Branch - he just doesn't know it yet

:P Great news! I know from the recent exhibitions I have done for the HOC, an Essex Branch is definitely needed!

Surly you did not sell membership to anyone living in Essex? Or did you include a DIY pack? :?

8) I sell the membership to those who don't have a local Branch (i.e. Northern Ireland on Saturday!) by telling them all about the discounts from suppliers, insurance companies etc, the forum, our national events and BMF affiliation. That's honest enough isn't it?

We only had Barry attend North Essex South Suffolk a few times when he said HE was going to do so, form an alternative. Still waiting to hear from him. His example is typical of lots of people. I'm bitching as an ex Sec. :(

If we are being personal, who would say a batty blonde who dashes around on an ageing, increasingly high mileage, rusty round the edges VFR is an ideal representative (actually - my description of the bike matches an honest one of me ! 8))

Tallyman - where are you quoting from? This thread has had no input since March 20th so any comments made must be pretty old by now.

Billy... it might be an idea to start a fresh thread about starting up a branch in Essex.

What often happens if you jump on the tail end of an old thread is that the discussion doesn't actually start as it maybe would have and you end up dredging up old arguements which are long since settled or forgotten and it's a bit like picking at an old scab. Not a good idea!

Honestly, I really feel a fresh thread would be a good idea and see what level of interest you get. :o)

Woops  It's probably my fault really (holds up hands and stands in the corner) as I pointed Bill towards this thread and yes, in reality it is pretty old.

I was just trying to point out that an Essex Branch had been debated before and nothing had come of it, but now may be a good time to get something started.

I'm not that keen to get involved with oganising anything, I just like the thought of just turning up and meeting people. Saying that if someone was to take the lead I would support them as much as I can :-D
