Red Lion Meet

Red Lion Meet

Postby Dave H. on Tue Aug 12, 2008 3:24 pm

I have heard that the Wednesday night meets at the Red Lion at Avebury have come to an end due to complaints from locals. :o(
Can anyone confirm this or is it just a false rumour, it was still going strong 3 weeks ago !!

:o( Correct - I hear there are notices all round the village saying no bike meets allowed. But the HOC Wilts Branch are still meeting there on the second Tuesday of each month, so that is good news! :P

HEAR HEAR Chris ;o)

I'm getting a bit fed up with this countries attitude on bikers, nearly every where you go you see signs in pubs 'motorcyclist by appointment only' 'remove your helmet' at petrol stations etc etc. Even when you go into towns and Malls, where are the motorcycle parking bays?

I would agree that there are some bikers outhere who couldn't give a fig who they upset or what law they break  but on the whole we are all law abiding citizens and that we have just the same rights as anybody else.

My experience as a biker in europe is that we are treated with some level of respect and left to our own divices and most road users give us a thought when they see us riding around. 8)

Does anyone know what the complaints were about !! It was getting quite big & several times we saw (& heard) a few loons leaving the village on the back wheel at far more than the 30 mph speed limit :x . If that was the problem then cheers lads for spoiling it for everyone else. Or maybe it was the smell of the Burgers on the Barbie they didn’t like !!

:o( I think you are right - it was the wheelie merchants and those who kept parking in front of folk's houses and drives so they couldn't get in and out - saw a tractor driver trying to get into his farm one evening and he had to sit there for half an hour whilst they found the bike owners parked across the entrance!

I so agree - a few spoil it for us all :x
