BMF Region 4 has sponsored two such schemes over the past two years. East Anglian Air Ambulance, a new lifesaving tool in the sky, was launched a few years ago to help save the lives of thousands of people within in the region,
The state of the art Bolkow 117 Eurocopter, that costs £110.000 per month to run, will be used in emergencies to reach patients and where appropriate, transport them to hospital within minutes. It is able to attend inaccessible remote locations throughout Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk.
“The new aircraft is excellent. It offers more space as well as new medical- equipment which will allow doctors and paramedics to carry out full body procedures that were simply not possible in the existing aircraft. This new aircraft will help us save even more lives.”
East Anglian Air Ambulance depends on charity events to raise money; they do not receive a government grant or National lottery funds.
